Donahoe Young & Williams LLP Proudly Sponsors Santa Clarita Valley Bar Association's 7th Annual High School Speech Competition

On April 11, 2019, the Santa Clarita Valley Bar Association hosted its 7th Annual High School Speech Competition at Canyon High School. The competition featured ten junior high school students from the William S. Hart School District. The students presented their speeches on the following topic:

“Given that affirmative action remains upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court, how much weight should colleges and universities seeking “diversity on campus” apply to academic merit and extra-curricular achievement versus socio-economic factors, when evaluating student applications for admission?”

The top three winners were awarded scholarships in the amounts of $1,000, $750 and $500. Donahoe & Young LLP was proud to be a sponsor of the event. Mark T. Young, Taylor F. Williams (president elect of the bar association), Luke Rowe (member at large of the bar association), Adrian Chiang and Shelly Mosallaei of Donahoe & Young LLP attended the event.

The three winners will present their speeches at the Bar Association’s “Scholars and Bench Night” on May 16, 2019, of which Donahoe & Young LLP is also a sponsor.

Congratulations to all the participants as well as the winners!
